    Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for the execution and support of the Tractor Supply Company Enterprise Monitoring and Automation Services. Responsibilities include technical accountability and execution to provide system (service, infrastructure, application, and component) visibility to current and trending state (availability, performance, and fault), leverage scripting abilities or use applications to trigger remediation solutions, all aligned with appropriate Service Management processes (Incident, Problem, Knowledge, Configuration Management). Tool administration is also the responsibility of this role. Other key responsibilities include personal development (soft and technical skills), developing peers and leadership through feedback, and executing operations and project work.

    • Implement and support the monitoring, correlation, and automation solutions based on commercial and ad hoc software tools enabling resilient monitoring and correlation married to brilliant auto-remediation of issues across all platforms and services.
    • Meet new challenges through formulating innovative, sustainable solutions based on adherence to established processes.
    • Ensure that critical services are monitored and correlated correctly.
    • Build and use technology and process, continuously tune and report on all monitoring, correlation, and automation relevancy.
    • Participate in reviewing proposed implementations of new systems and services; taking into account the monitoring aspects and providing requirements to system / service owners in order to ensure the monitoring of the system / service as part of operationalization process.
    • Maintain health of the service environment and tools by keeping the environment current with upgrades and patches.
    • Seek and give feedback for personal, team, and service development.
    • Participate in operational and project activities: discover and render customer requirements into actionable deliverables, develop and scope activities, execute to project deliverables.
    • Use advanced knowledge of the monitoring tool operation and design to troubleshoot and resolve issues with the associated tools and integrations.
    • Write scripts (shell, bash, perl, etc.) to execute monitoring tasks that are out of the scope and capabilities of the monitoring systems/tools.
    • Build out technologies and processes that demonstrate the TCO and value of the Enterprise Monitoring and Automation service using metrics.
    • Enable executive, vendor/partner, and internal team visibility and communication to current state using different communication channels based on Service Management principles.
    • Collaborate with internal and vendor teams to ensure all IT and business services are monitored and auto-remediated on appropriately prior to code deployment.
    • Develop systems and processes to validate efficacy of the service and subsequent results taken by automated responses or by dedicated process owners on an ongoing basis.
    • Develop, implement, and execute test plans for new and existing features.

    Qualifications

    Experience: 2-4 years of IT experience. 1+ years’ experience with monitoring and using more than one monitoring tool or technique.

     

    Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

     

    Professional Certifications: None.

     

    Other knowledge, skills or abilities:

    Bachelor's degree in or 5 years IT experience.

    • Experience with automation or orchestration.
    • Experience with integrating solutions via Webcalls or APIs.
    • Knowledge of / experience working with agent and agentless monitoring techniques
    • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology.
    • Hands-on experience with IT focus (tool admin, application support or development, server admin or support, network admin or support, service management)
    • Experience with multiple IT focus areas preferred.
    • Background with Unix/Linux based systems preferred.
    • Scripting experience (Shell, bash, perl, python) preferred.
