    Job Purpose

     

    The Manager for International Transportation is responsible for managing the logistical processes related to the movement of all international freight for TSC.  This position manages carrier service contracts and relationships, vendor communication related to the TSC import process, customs compliance, freight payment, Letters of Credit and the movement of all merchandise from international vendors located outside the United States destined to TSC locations. 

    Responsibilities

    • Manages the movement of all import containers in the TSC network, minimizing delays while driving costs out of the process.
    • Manages steamship carrier base to ensure capacity exists to support the business service and cost requirements.
    • Conducts steamship line and intermodal service bids or RFP's
    • Directs the effective compliance with U.S. Customs compliance of import freight.
    • Manages and provides day to day direction to 3rd party freight forwarder, customs broker, west coast transload operation and intermodal services provider to ensure necessary support for the increasing direct import program.
    • Provides strategic and tactical recommendations to senior management
    • Oversees the functionality and future development of the international freight visibility and vendor quote management system
    • Manages the movement/progress of International freight flow versus planned timeframes.
    • Monitors port issues - maintains a contingency plan to move freight to different ports if needed
    • Responsible for the timely payment and processing of all international freight invoices, letters of credit and open accounts
    • Drives changes that will lead to improvements to transportation processes and landed cost reductions
    • Assists in developing annual transportation budget
    • Manages C-TPAT for Logistics
    • May perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Experience:  4-6 years related experience; any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

     

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or logistics and transportation;

    Strong and demonstrated analytical, communication and leadership skills

    • Proficient with spreadsheets and Microsoft Office products
    • Capable of solving complex problems
