    This position is responsible for performing and coordinating activities related to insurance, safety and risk management for Tractor Supply Company.  Accountable for directing risk analysis, procurement of insurance coverages at appropriate retention levels, as well as continual development and administration of risk management practices and safety programs to reduce the overall total cost of risk.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the strategy and negotiate appropriate coverages and limits for all property, casualty, and surety lines of coverage.
    • Direct supervision of the Risk Management Analyst and oversight of services performed by the outsourced Claims Supervisor related to large insured and self-insured property claims.
    • Manage the relationships with third party brokers and insurance companies related to the Property and Casualty program as well as the software company providing the department with the Risk Management Information System. Periodically conduct a market review and/or Request for Proposal related to these services ensuring the company is receiving superior service at competitive pricing.                                                                                  
    • Work with the Claims Manager each quarter to obtain an updated independent actuarial study of reserves for retained losses and coordinates with accounting to ensure timely and accurate adjustments and reconciliations of various insurance accounts.
    • Analyze claim trends and works with safety managers to develop Store, DC and SSC safety initiatives, policies and procedures that address these trends. Design and update safety training programs to improve claim results and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.   
    • Assist the Director of Risk Management with departmental administrative tasks including budgeting, reviewing invoices and allocations of the insurance programs.
    • Review contracts for risk management implications and respond to operational leaders with observations and recommendations.                                                            
    • Build internal partnerships with leaders across the organization to drive consistent risk management practices and to demonstrate that risk management is a valuable resource to assist in business decision making.                                                
    • Provide risk management support for major initiatives of the organization.  Lead the development of the Risk Management strategic plan working with the team and other stakeholders to systematically roll-out new initiatives after receiving appropriate input and buy-in.

    Qualifications

    Experience: 7 years’ related experience. 

     

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in business, risk or related field from an accredited college or university.  Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

     

    Professional Certifications: None.

     

    Other knowledge, skills or abilities:

    • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with business leaders both inside and outside of the organization.
    • Sound analytical abilities to understand and speak to financial concepts.
    • Ability to dive into the data to drive and expedite project analysis and completion.
    • Ability to develop and enforce policies and procedures.
    • Ability and proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel.
