    Job Purpose

     

    Sr. BI Developers! Are you skills with SAP Business Objects? Are you looking for the opportunity to work a customer data project supporting the marketing efforts of a Fortune 500 company? You will be responsible for strategically design and implement Business Intelligence solutions, data warehouses, data marts, and data stores, while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for defining data standards and models for warehouse architectures.  They will provide a consultative presence in the business which allows a deep understanding of the pace, direction, and needs of business partners.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Facilitate resolution of disparate goals and direction to arrive at sound, long-lived BI and Data Warehouse solutions for the business
    • Perform all required Administrator duties for the BI and Data Warehouse Platforms
    • Consult with the Data Architects to define models for new data warehouse development and/or changes to existing data stores
    • Coordinate and work with other technical staff across multiple teams to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures
    • Act as a leader in all phases of conceptualization, design, development, testing, and production support of BI solutions
    • Identify inefficiencies and gaps in current Business Intelligence/ data warehouses and leverage solutions
    • Define and implement processes and solutions to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity while providing high performance to meet the business SLA’s 
    • Design and implement automated system monitoring within the data warehouse and BI
    • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets
    • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data systems
    • Anticipate customers’ analytic needs and proactively conceptualize and champion high-value Business Intelligence solutions
    • Work under minimum supervision to perform a variety of complicated tasks
    • Install and configure relevant components to ensure data warehouse access
    • Conduct research and make recommendations on Business Intelligence products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
    • Use the latest Business Intelligence development tools, methods, and technologies to implement high performance, complex analytic solutions
    • Design and develop customer training materials, and conduct customer training sessions
    • Mentor and train other team members by introducing them to new technologies, methods, and learning resources

    Qualifications

    Experience: 

    • 5+ years experience designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting multi-terabyte data warehouses with database platforms, including Oracle
    • 5+ years experience working with BI reporting and dashboard tools (e.g. Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Microstrategies, Cognos, etc.)

     

    Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems, or computer engineering; or a minimum of 4 years related experience in lieu of degree in addition to required experience;  Any combination of education and experience will be considered.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Training/Systems

     

    • Extensive knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and query tools (e.g. SQLPlus, Toad, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices
    • Knowledge of database systems and ETL software tools including best practices and methodologies
    • Strong data analysis, data architecture and data modeling experience and familiarity with data modeling design tools (e.g. Erwin, PowerDesigner, ERStudio, etc.)
    • Good understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle methodology as adopted by the organization
    • Excellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills
    • Displays strong written and oral communication skills, presentation, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong problem solving, communication, organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
    • Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards and products as required
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
    • Thorough understanding of project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.
    • Understanding of software development lifecycles and methodology as adopted by TSC
    • Ability to work independently, positively handle conflict, and work in a fast paced environment
    • Understands project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, and the change management processes
    • Certifications in Data Warehousing concepts and techniques
    • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools, including Business Objects and XCelsius
    • Familiarity with in-house data-intensive applications, including Cognos Planning
    • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
    • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
