This position is responsible for working closely with various IT and Business teams to develop, implement, execute, analyze, and communicate the results of performance tests for software application areas such as E-commerce, ERP, and Warehouse Management.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with application development, architecture, IT infrastructure, and business operations teams to lead the definition of performance requirements for both new releases and application/system updates. 
    • Develop and review performance targets and test strategies, plans, and profiles to ensure coverage of product features and meeting release schedules.
    • Determine test data needs and develop utilities to support data creation, database restoration, and other performance test pre-requisites.
    • Design, develop, maintain, and upgrade test scripts for volume, stress, endurance, and other applicable performance tests.
    • Schedule, coordinate, and/or execute testing activities occurring in the performance test environment.
    • Log software defects using a bug tracking system and work closely with software development team to analyze defects and track them to resolution.
    • Review, analyze, and document test results and metrics that are maintained in a test case management system.
    • Create clear, concise performance reports and present them to IT and Business stakeholders for review.
    • Document and provide guidance to performance test practice in respect to best practices, process improvement and performance test strategies.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 7+ years experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, e.g., M.S. degree plus 5 years experience.
    • Significant experience (5+ years) in performance testing of web-based applications.
    • Minimum of 4 years prior scripting experience with tools such as HP LoadRunner or Silk.
    • Retail experience is preferred.
    • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology is preferred.
    • Experience with SOAP, REST, RPC or other client-server API testing is preferred.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Training/Systems

     

    • Significant experience with HP QC/ALM and Loadrunner/Performance Center
    • Strong understanding of Windows-based or web-based systems, internet technologies, and SQL.
    • Strong understanding of designing, developing and the execution of reusable and maintainable performance test scripts.
    • Strong understanding of industry standard Quality Assurance performance testing methodologies and their practical application.
    • Strong understanding of the defect life-cycle process and industry standard defect tracking tools is preferred.
    • Strong knowledge in E-commerce, Warehouse Management application and/or an SAP environment (or other major ERP application) with interfaces to best of breed COTS applications is preferred.
    • Ability to work closely with Application Development and Infrastructure teams to identify, troubleshoot and debug performance issues in application layers at all levels including operating system, application, component, database, and network.
    • Ability to work independently, work in a fast paced environment, and manage workload prioritization to deliver high quality work products on time with minimal direction.
    • Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to handle conflict and work with a distributed team.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to use proven problem-solving approaches to most solutions.
