    Retail Enterprise Architects! Are you looking for an opportunity where a new Enterprise Architecture team will lead the drive for innovation and organizational excellence?  

    The Store Systems Enterprise Architect is responsible for creating the strategic technology roadmap that enables Tractor Supply’s ONETractor business strategy, defining and enforcing technology standards across the IT department and providing technology governance to IT projects.  This includes responsibility for all in-store systems and integration, including the associated hardware and software to support customer point of sale transactions, self-checkout, in-store mobility, payment systems & processing, and backroom functions (e.g. inventory management, labor scheduling, training, etc.).


    Using knowledge of architecture and design solutions, the Store Systems Enterprise Architect will work with domain experts to ensure individual technology area visions for current and emerging technologies align with the overall long-term roadmap and technology vision. Defines new processes and aligns them appropriately with existing architecture and operations processes. Assesses, recommends and builds compelling business cases for emerging technologies and appropriate technical approaches for solutions. Reviews Tractor Supply’s technology landscape and identifies opportunities for cost savings.




    • Reviews market trends within the retail space and recommends technology strategies to align with the business initiatives.  Develops and maintains the technology roadmaps that drive innovation within the organization for all in-store hardware, software, and integration, including: point of sale platform, self-checkout, payment systems & processing, team member mobility tools, and other technologies to improve the customer experience, drive sales, and efficiency. 
    • Reviews technical designs to ensure that they are consistent with defined architecture principles, standards and best practices.
    • Accountable for the availability, stability, scalability, security, and recoverability enabled by the designs. Works with business partners to ensure design meets desired outcomes. 
    • Defines and promotes processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies. (20%)
    • Collaborates with both IT and business senior leadership to influence decisions controlling millions of dollars in annual technology and business investment .
    • Develops and maintains artifacts in the Architecture Library. 
    • Governs the introduction of new technologies.  Reviews, aligns, and drives technology plans with enterprise goals, business plans and business processes. 


    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
    • 15+ years of Information Technology experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in solution architecture for larger organizations.
    • 5+ years Retail industry experience.
    • Superior knowledge of multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies and processing environments across enterprise, including: Point of Sale (POS), Payment Systems & Processing, Self-Checkout, Team Member Mobility, & other retail technologies.
    • Superior knowledge of retail point of sale system software, such as Oracle Retail Xstore and Infor Retail, and Fujitsu GlobalSTORE.
    • Superior knowledge of retail systems point of sale hardware, such as Verifone card readers and ELO point of sale hardware.
    • Superior knowledge of payment systems and processing using end to end encryption with EMV.
    • Superior knowledge of team member mobility capabiltiies delivered on Apple iOS devices.
    • Superior enterprise knowledge of the following technology architecture domains: application, collaboration, data integration, networks, platform, security and systems management, site reliability engineering.
    • Superior knowledge of SOA, microservices, and object-oriented analysis and design.
    • Superior knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
    • Superior ability to estimate the financial impact of technical architecture alternatives.
    • Superior ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
    • Superior ability to comprehend business strategies to ensure technical directions are supportive and consistent within the company.
    • Superior ability to conduct analysis sessions and document decisions.
    • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, in both business and technical contexts.
    • Superior critical thinking skills with the ability to develop completely new problem-solving approaches and formulate innovative solutions.
    • Advanced knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and usage to improve retail store efficiency.
    • Advanced ability to work independently, work in a fast paced environment, and manage workload prioritization to deliver high quality work products on time with minimal direction.
    • Advanced collaboration skills with the ability to handle conflict and to work with a distributed team.
