• Distribution Center Safety and LP Specialist

  • Overview

    This position is responsible for managing aspects of loss prevention and safety and assisting the LP and Safety Manager with projects to build the culture of safety, to reduce team member incidents and to help control financial losses within the distribution center.


    Duties and Responsibilities


    • Ensure compliance with all loss prevention and safety related company policies or procedures to prevent financial losses, prevent team member incidents and to help reduce worker’s compensation costs.
    • Conduct training on all loss prevention and safety related topics to provide the facility with an educated and aware team member base.
    • Perform various audits, observations, or inspections to identify inventory accuracy, shrink or safety vulnerabilities and provide feedback and recommendations for solutions.
    • Conduct incident investigations to determine root causes; develop and implement proper preventative measures.
    • Organize and lead building safety committee activities with the intent of providing for a safer work environment.
    • Confirm all physical security measures and equipment are in place and properly maintained.
    • Manage all safety equipment availability, distribution and utilization in the building.
    • Handle theft investigations for identified pilfering in the building.

    May perform other duties as assigned



    III. Job Requirements


    Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience)


    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; High school diploma is required. Experience with OSHA and other regulatory agencies are preferred.  Safety and/or Loss Prevention accreditations are recommended. Minimum four years experience in one or more of the following warehouse environments is required:  loss prevention, operations, safety, inventory control or internal audit and an additional two years with relevant experience in the loss prevention and/or safety field.





    • Proficient in Microsoft office environment
    • OSHA certification (10 Hour or 30 Hour) is preferred
    • Strong communication, problem solving, public speaking, time management and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to self-motivate and work with little supervision, work with a sense of urgency, and to prioritize tasks
    • Display a detail-oriented approach to work
    • Ability to positively handle conflict
    • Ability to be “on call” 24/7 to handle emergencies (alarm issues, internal theft cases, disaster response, etc)
    • Ability to work off shifts (evenings, overnights and weekends for a 24/7 operation) when required by business needs
    • Ability to travel to other distribution centers to cover when LP/Safety Manager is out

    • Individuals in this position will encounter room temperatures, lighting, and traditional equipment as found in any typical distribution center Individual may be asked to lift weight up to 50 pounds. Individuals may need to reach over shoulder heights, crouch or stoop below the waist, repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement
