Manager of IT Mobile Applications

This position is responsible for managing the development and deployment of Consumer Mobile Apps and contributing to the overall architecture of the Mobile Commerce landscape. This requires comprehensive knowledge of Mobile platforms, eCommerce products and their deployment. Additional responsibilities include technical leadership, monitoring other team members, and leading projects.


  1. Manages the development and deployment of Mobile Apps and contributes to the overall architecture of the Mobile Commerce landscape.
  2. Allocates resources and supervises direct reports.
  3. Hires, develops, and motivates assigned staff.
  4. Cultivates, disseminates, and enforces functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.
  5. Manages and maintains multiple Non-Production and Production environments, ensuring that these environments are properly set up, configured, and available for each release/project as scheduled. Puts procedures and best practices in place to ensure stability, reliability, and optimal performance of the production environment.
  6. Performs capacity planning and adequate performance testing on all environments, with emphasis on the production environment. Plans for peak season readiness.
  7. Reviews and analyzes existing applications and system effectiveness and efficiency, and then develops strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  8. Researches and makes recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.
  9. Assesses and cultivates long-term strategic goals for IT area of responsibility in conjunction with department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders
  10. Manages the triage process of complex build/deployment problems, release and environment issues, daily content issues, and bugs in a multi-component environment.
  11. Determines the readiness of each release based on release criteria; quality of release, production environment readiness, training and support plans, rollout and backout plans, and risk management plan.


Experience: 6+ years of progressive experience in Mobile App Development on iOS, Android and/or Hybrid platforms required. 6+ years of experience in mobile technology landscape including: iOS (Cocoa, Swift, Objective C, C++, iPhone SDK), Android (Android Framework, Java),  React JS and Mobile Web (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, RWD, mobile-first frontend frameworks)


Education:  Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems and Business Management or equivalent work experience.

High Demand IT Specialized skills:  Platform knowledge (Linux,Unix,Sun,WindowsNT,XP,Open Step):


Other knowledge, skills or abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Mobile platforms (iOS, Android).
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile Development Methodologies and DevOps
  • Strong knowledge of Continuous Integration and Delivery processes
  • Knowledge of analytics and customer experience tools such as Adobe AEM, Tealeaf, Google analytics preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of publishing and supporting apps in Apple Store and Google Play
  • Strong knowledge of mobile application security
  • Knowledge of Application Performance Monitoring, Synthetic and Customer Experience Monitoring is preferred
  • Advanced ability to establish effective process and prioritizing across projects in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Advanced ability to define process and procedures to manage the release cycles for both Major feature releases and cycles of Minor Releases.
  • Advanced ability to work with rapid, overlapping product release cycles as well as a continuous Integration and delivery process.
  • Advanced ability to build, maintain and monitor IT systems and applications.
  • Advanced ability to manage third-party vendors.
  • Advanced knowledge of java-based application builds and deployments.
  • Superior ability to drive issues to closure and work well within a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Superior ability to work independently, work in a fast-paced environment, and manage workload prioritization to deliver high quality work products on time with minimal direction.
  • Superior critical thinking skills with the ability to develop completely new problem-solving approaches and formulate innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to handle conflict and to work with a distributed team.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
