    Job Purpose


    The VP/Divisional Merchandise Manager is responsible for guiding the Buying Staff in the development and execution of the Strategic Merchandising and Omni Channel Plan of that division within the guidelines of the Tractor Supply Company Business Plan.


    • Strategic Planning: Directly responsible for the strategic merchandising/Omni Channel direction for the division. Assist in the development and execution of the company strategic initiatives.
    • Merchandise and Omni Channel Management: Develop and oversee the “Big Picture” direction of chain level and regional merchandising/Omni Channel opportunities. Responsible for competitive assortments driving innovation and differentiation at the lowest overall operational expense to the organization. Provide direction to support teams -- i.e. Inventory Management, Planning, Logistics, Pricing and work with Sourcing and Product Development to negotiate lowest landed cost. Maintain positive - productive relationships with vendors through multiple channels of communication.
    • Financial Management: Develop and communicate a comprehensive strategic business plan and budget for categories to support the merchandising/Omni Channel initiatives aimed at maximizing the financial contribution made by each category. Responsible for the financial performance of each category as it relates to budgeted sales, gross margin, inventory, inventory turnover and GMROI
    • Marketing: Develop a plan to market and advertise products within each assigned category aimed at driving sales, maximizing profit, increasing awareness, enhancing brand loyalty and attracting new customers. Partners with the Marketing Department on national and local marketing events.
    • People: Directly responsible for hiring, developing, coaching, training and succession planning. Responsible for creating a positive, productive work environment enabling the team to provide the maximum return to the organization.
    • Communications: Must effectively lead open and concise communications to all levels of the company. Responsible for the organizations complete understanding of the divisions vision and strategy.


    Experience: 10+ years of Merchandising experience.


    Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered



    • Ability to give presentations to large groups.
    • Ability to enforce policies and procedures.
    • Ability to write policies, procedures, and executive summaries.
    • Ability and proficiency in Microsoft and Office products.
    • Proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing.
    • Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion.
