    This position is responsible for the oversight and development of applications for use in and supporting Tractor Supply Stores.  Additional responsibilities include technical leadership, supervising/mentoring team members, and leading projects.     

    Responsibilities

     

    1. Delivers technology vision for store systems and continuously store systems
    2. Executes research on software products and services and determines course of action in support of procurement and development efforts, including operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
    3. Leads the IT team responsible for implementing and maintaining core retail systems such as POS, in-store mobile application and back-office applications
    4. Ensure systems are up, stable and secure at all times.
    5. Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.
    6. Disseminate and enforce functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.
    7. Manages complex program/project deliverables, service level agreements, and commits resources to IT management, executive team, department leads, support staff, and end-users.
    8. Hire, manage, develop, and motivate store systems team
    9. Meet with store field management to identify store opportunities.
    10. Directs team leads and other direct reports including making decisions on recruiting and future skill set needs, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
    11. Ensure clear and timely communication to business leaders/partners of all pertinent events that affect core systems and keep them apprised of project status.
    12. Ensure that new systems and changes are properly tested. Develop and maintain superior test plans by partnering with QA.
    13. Actively manage vendor relationships to ensure Tractor Supply Company is getting the best possible resources and that vendors are staying on task and on schedule with our projects.

    Qualifications

    Experience: 8+ years’ work experience, 5 years management experience leading teams.

     

    Education:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

    High Demand IT Specialized skills:  None

     

    Platform knowledge (Linux,Unix,Sun,WindowsNT,XP,Open Step):

     

    Other knowledge, skills or abilities:

    • Experience with software development lifecycle (SLDC) methodology preferred.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of architecture, design, development, and implementation of store systems, including POS/mobile applications and/or payment devices.
    • Superior ability managing teams working with various programming languages such as Java, .net and C.
    • Superior negotiation and vendor management skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
