    Job Purpose

     

    The International Transportation Planner is responsible for origin to destination shipment coordination with a focus on increasing service levels and reducing costs through shipment optimization.  Additionally, the position is responsible for monitoring container flow, third party logistics performance and overseas bookings in a continual effort to increase efficiencies.  The position is also responsible for timely international freight bill audit (via audit software) and reconciliation.

    Responsibilities

    • Review vendor bookings for compliance and shipment optimization to reduce transportation cost and protect inventory requirements
    • Review Customs/OA hold log, C-TPAT seal discrepancy log and all other functions as needed or requested by external customers, distribution centers, transportation partners, draymen (visibility reports), vendors, forwarder(s) and consolidator(s) as well as internal customers
    • Monitor and resolve issues that violate business rules set forth in the steamship line contracts
    • Audits and recommends approval of all international freight payments
    • Communicates with distribution centers on container flow for exception and event merchandise
    • Oversee container drayage operations from US ports and rail CY to distribution centers
    • Develop and run exception reporting for both internal and external partners to ensure timely container flow and accurate recording of milestones within our visibility tool
    • Recommend enhancements to online visibility tool for further efficiencies
    • Runs weekly reporting on event merchandise audits reporting for accurate reasons and ETA timelines

    Qualifications

    Experience: 3 years of logistics or international business experience.   

     

    Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in international business or logistics preferred.  Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Training/Systems 

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
    • Ability to work independently and handle conflict in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong and demonstrated communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work well in a cross-functional environment, while also building strong partner and interdepartmental relationships through listening and informing.
